   POETRY > Whoever Said 'the Sky is Blue' was Lying

Whoever said 'the sky is blue' was lying

Who told a fib that trees are green;

I tell you, yellow is a baby crying,

And black is spelled in cyan sheen.

Whoever said 'the sky is blue' was lying

Who told a fib that snow is white;

I tell you, six comes first and no denying

That night is day and dark is light.

Whoever said 'the sky is blue' was lying

Who told a fib your lips are red;

I tell you, pain is violet, pink is dying,

And wood smells taste, and feels as well.

I ask: "Have you ever had an orange fling?"

Or loved so green it's almost pain?

I tell you, I've never seen a crystal spring,

Or smoky gray or golden grain.

For whoever said 'the sky is blue' was lying

Now tell the truth, please don't deny

That two is written with magenta lining

And coffee sounds like purple dye.
